On December 29, 2025, the Chinese Optical Society announced the 2025 Science and Technology Innovation Awards. UW Laser was honored with the Second Class Award in Technological Invention for its project titled "Key Technologies and Applications of High-Power Blue Laser Intelligent Manufacturing."

The award-winning project, "Key Technologies and Applications of High-Power Blue Laser Intelligent Manufacturing," is a major breakthrough independently developed by UW Laser. After four years of dedicated R&D, the technical team successfully developed a 450nm high-absorption blue laser, dual-wavelength high-speed hybrid welding technology, and sensing and control technology for high-temperature molten pools.

 

The company has launched multiple series of blue and red-blue hybrid lasers, as well as complete welding equipment, which are tailored to meet the manufacturing needs of new energy vehicle batteries.

The project’s pioneering red-blue composite wavelength beam combining technology overcomes key bottlenecks in traditional laser welding. Its innovative beam combining and multi-module integrated control replace conventional single-wavelength solutions, enabling high-speed, high-quality welding of aluminum, copper, and other highly reflective metals.

 

In practical use, welding spatter and defects are significantly reduced, with speeds exceeding 300 mm/s and improved production efficiency. The hybrid blue-infrared technology increases laser absorption in copper from less than 5% to over 30%, achieving rapid full keyhole absorption for optimal laser utilization.

 

The technology is now successfully applied in critical power battery welding processes, including covers, sealing nails, terminals, and busbars, providing efficient and reliable solutions for new energy vehicle battery manufacturing.
